The old popular Maa Jivdani sanctuary is situated on the Jivdani slope in Virar, a suburb of Bombay. In seventeenth century there was a fortification by the name of Jivdhan on this slope.
Inside the fortresses there are some antiquated looking caverns and water storages, a large portion of which have now for all intents and purposes evaporated.
