The Arthur seat is named after Sir Arthur Mallet who lost his wife and 1 month old daughter in a tragic ferry accident in Savitri River.
Sir Arthur Mallet used to sit here and stare at the river.
After sometime the point became very popular for floating of light objects like cold drink cap as due to scientific reasons of air pressure if you throw light weight objects then it comes back up again.
