In 1575, The church was described as the "biggest and best of all those in the island of Salcette", was being built through the generosity of "a wealthy lady of good social standing".
It remains on the ocean shore of the Bandra suburb of Mumbai, and was the main church there till the principal quarter of the seventeenth century.
St. Andrew's Church is one of the most seasoned holy places in Mumbai, worked by the Portuguese Jesuits in 1575.
