In Mumbai, The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) is a multi-venue, multi-purpose cultural centre which aims to promote and preserve India's heritage of music, dance, theatre, film, literature and photography.
It also determines and promotes the new and innovative work/ideas in the field of performing arts.
The Centre was founded by JRD Tata and Dr.Jamshed Bhabha(brother of nuclear physicist Homi Jehangir Bhabha) in the year 1969.
It is also the home of the Symphony Orchestra of India, which was established by them in 2006.
